Earnestine Marydean Pearson was born in Hughes, Arkansas on July 5, 1941. Her parents moved the family to her future home Wasco, California in 1945. This was her home until moving to Redding, Ca. in 1960.
Prior to moving to Redding, She entered into marriage with George Morgan. This marriage produced two children, Patricia Mae Morgan and Vivian Denise Morgan.
Upon her divorce from George Morgan she entered into her second marriage of sixty one years to Leo Coleman. This union produced two children, Gwendolyn Denise Coleman and Leo Coleman Jr.
Earnestine was a quiet decent lady of even temperament, but she spoke often about being above board and being truthful. She did not wish to be glorified upon her death. She always said God knows the truth. In essence she wanted it known she had made some mistakes in life. She always said that she had sinned as anyone has and no one is without sin in the eyes of God so do not glorify me upon my death.
She was never in church on a consistent basis, but she lived a Christian life, by abstaining from that which she knew to be wrong and doing unto others as she would have them do unto her.
Earnestine realized she resided in Gods temple and knew to misuse his temple was a sin against God.
She was an admitted alcoholic, smoked two packs of cigarettes a day and was one hundred and fifty pounds overweight, with diabetes.
With God's grace by the year of 1986 she had quit drinking, smoking, and had lost one hundred and forty ponds, plus the diabetes. She was proud of herself in giving up these habits without any further therapy. She was able to socialize with individuals and groups of people while never being tempted to indulge or partake in these vises again.
She wanted her imperfections mentioned, first of all, because she was proud of the fact she had given up these vices, but with profound faith in God realized that with God all these things are possible. There is no power like the power of God.
Earnestine and Leo were the parents of four children. Three of the four are now deceased, only one remains. The loss of their children was extremely difficult and heart breaking. But their faith in God got them through every struggle they encountered.
She wanted everyone in attendance of her funeral to know she had a good marriage, not perfect but solid. She was married to Leo for sixty one years with a bond like no other. When you saw Earnestine, most of the time you saw Leo.
Earnestine wanted to pass on to relatives and strangers alike, to always on a daily basis try to emulate Jesus and when you try and walk in his footsteps and keep him in your prayers, plus have faith, real faith, you can and will overcome all obstacles in your path.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, Leo Coleman her husband and Vivian Denise Morgan her daughter, eighteen grandchildren and a host of great grand kids, nieces and nephews.
Her message to them is “ Weep not for me because my fate is in Gods hands and it is within his will we will once again be together at the resurrection.”
A funeral service will be held at McDonald's Chapel, located at 1275 Continental Street, Redding, California, 96001, United States, on February 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
