Eunice Darlene Wright was born on Feb. 5, 1926 in Grand River, Iowa, and was transferred to her home in heaven on Dec. 9, 2015, at the age of 89. She was a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma since 2001. She is survived by her four children, Jon M. Wright of Redwood City, California, and his wife, Martha; Jonelle Wright of Miami, Florida; Mark Wright of Elk Grove, California, and his wife, Patty; and Marshal Wright of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his wife, Annmarie. Eunice was blessed with five grandchildren—Joel and his wife, Melissa; Rachel and her husband, Kevin Parker; and Justin, Erin, and Shelby; and with five great-grandchildren—Katerina, Kaylin, Casey, Beth, and Hope.
In 1949, Eunice met John Clarence Wright, while on a trip with friends to California, and they were married on August 8, 1950 in Grand River, Iowa. She and John were married for 42 years, when he passed away in 1992.
Eunice and John served as missionaries to India from 1956-1962, when they returned to live in Rancho Cordova, California. Over her long vocational career, she worked as an administrative secretary, bookkeeper, and medical transcriptionist, retiring in 2001, when she moved to Tulsa.
While living in Tulsa, she attended Asbury United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Senior Choir.
In talents, service, and hobbies she was a homemaker, gracious and meticulous hostess, great cook, seamstress, piano and saxophone player, singer, voracious reader, writer of letters and cards, and sharp board game player, especially at Scrabble. She loved musical dramas and gospel music, attending religious and classical concerts, camping in Oregon in the RV with John and family, and traveling to various sites around the country to join in family reunions and vacations. Up until the two days before her passing to glory, she was an active participant in life.
Eunice Wright is remembered by her family and friends for her strong faith in, loyal love for, and dedicated service to her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, sharp mind and intellect, humble and calm spirit, endurance and perseverance, diligent hard work, kind thoughtful friendship, peaceful quiet heart, positive outlook, and deep-seeded joy. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but all of us have been touched and blessed richly by her life, and rejoice in her eternal homecoming and reward.
No local services planned. McDonald's Chapel in Redding, California will conduct a funeral service on Monday, December 21, 2015.
