

Frances Bobb Driver passed away on October 20, 2015 at 99 ½ years of age in El Dorado Hills, CA. Her family would like to express their thanks for the care given by the staff of Snowline Hospice of Diamond Springs, CA.
She was born on March 8, 1916 to Bernadette and Frank Bobb and experienced her youth in Brandy City, CA (now a ghost town) in Sierra County, CA. Her father was a gold miner and rancher. Mother served on the No. San Juan Chamber of Commerce as treasurer.
Frances graduated from Nevada City High School, Nevada City, CA. Relocated to Sacramento and worked as a short order cook and at the Del Monte Cannery. She met James S. Driver, fell in love, and moved to the Redding area. James died suddenly of an accidental death when the youngest child of five was only three months old, and Frances dedicated her life to raising her children: Dorothy Frances, Carmel Ruth (and Richard) Ashwill, James Shelton, Jr., (deceased), Robert Thomas (and Michele) and Patricia Lillian. Also granddaughter Angela and five great grandchildren: Frances, Calvin, Chloe, Helena and Henry, several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Priscilla Hindmarsh.
Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church in Redding since 1953. Lead a Christian life and volunteered in the Nursery Room, monthly newsletter, Bible Study groups and wherever she was needed. Frances took many vacations with daughter Dorothy and loved short drives to Shasta Dam, Mt. Shasta and No. Calif. Her hobbies included knitting, croqueting, writing poetry and No. Cal. History. Frances wrote all the history for the Redding Centennial magazine and the Shasta Dam 50th Anniversary publication. Both published by daughter Carmel.
Graveside services will be held at Redding Lawncrest Mortuary, Continental St., at 2 pm, Monday, Nov. 2nd.
