

She was born Luedna Jane Downey December 22, 1920, in El Paso, Texas, first of two children to Lewis and Luedna Downey.
She was preceded in death by son Ernest Pletcher, Jr., and husband Ken Spencer.
She is survived by son Jeff Pletcher (Bonnie), stepsons Ken (Helen), Terry (Margaret), and Robert (Karen) Spencer, and stepdaughter Kathleen (Verlund) Spencer; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Jane grew up in El Paso, except for a couple years in North Carolina, and graduated from Texas College of Mines & Metallurgy (now University of Texas at El Paso) in 1942 with a degree in Business Administration. She taught elementary school for over 20 years in Ohio, Texas, and California, retiring in 1976 from Cascade Union Elementary School District in Anderson, CA.
Jane and Ken married in 1972. They enjoyed their children, grand- and great-grandchildren, many friends, their animals, RV'ing, house boating, golf, and travelling North America and the world. Jane also enjoyed flowers and playing bridge.
Viewing will be at McDonald's Chapel, Redding, CA, Friday Jan. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial service will be at McDonald's Saturday Jan. 28 at 10:00 with burial to follow in Redding Memorial Park.
