

Joseph "Dexter" Atchley passed away at the age of 90 with his family by his side. Born July 9, 1924 in Sheridan, Arkansas, to Dulcie and Joseph Atchley, he was one of six children. Dexter lived most of his life in the Redding area where he was a lifelong timber falling contractor. Dexter was proud to serve in the US Army Air Corps during WW II where he received 4 bronze service stars for his dedication to his country. He was also a wildland fire fighter from 1952-2006. One of his favorite past times was flying his 182 Cessna. Dexter is survived by his son Joe Atchley, and his daughters Marci Loerzel (Dick), Candace Duggan (Ed), Diane Kidd (Dennis) and Shirley Dockery (Bill). Grandchildren include Jami and Joe Atchley, Jessica McHale, Ryan and Rusty Loerzel, Mike and Anna Stanley, Bucky and Josh Duggan, Billy Kidd and Christina Brintnall, and Bill and Sheryl Dockery. Dexter was proceeded in death by his wife, Pat. The family would like to give special acknowledgement and gratitude to the staff at Serenity Gardens for the loving care given to our father. Viewing will be 2:00-7:00, Sunday, January 25 at McDonald's Chapel. Services will at 11:00, Monday, January 26 at the Veteran's Cemetery in Igo.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Intrim Hospice in honor of Dexter.
