My dear sweet husband William "Bill" John Ulrich, 71, died Feb. 27, 2015, at our home in Redding, a result of cancer. He was born Dec. 21, 1943, in Glendale, CA, to William and Shirley Ulrich, the second of three children. He grew up in Alhambra, CA, and graduated from San Gabriel High School in 1962. He then moved to Paradise, CA and on to many other cities where his PG&E job took him. He attended Yuba Community College and took some courses at Shasta College in Redding a few years ago. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed for a time in Germany.Bill was employed as a heavy duty equipment mechanic for PG&E and moved to Napa. He married Carol (Sipe) Lundgren in Napa, CA in 1979 followed by a transfer to Redding where they lived there together with his two step-children Dennis and Scottie Lundgren. Bill continued his career with PG&E until his retirement in 1995.Bill received the 850th John A. Britton Award Certificate for his quick thinking and valiant effort while giving CPR to Carol's dad, Ellis Sipe on April 21, 1991. Bill recently enjoyed bike riding, camping, hiking, kayaking, nature, and walking their Scottish Terrier Broddie in the neighborhood. You would often see Bill helping out the neighbors from mowing their lawns and putting out trash containers while people were on vacation, to fixing their sprinkler system, putting in new light bulbs, adding air into bikes and basketballs, to patching bike tires for the kids. His latest hobby was making things out of wood like his "magic marble machine" and his lawnmower table and light stand along with many dog's names leash holders in the shape of a bone.Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol; stepson, Dennis Lundgren (Cindy) of Tucson, AZ; step-grandson, Dylan Lundgren of Tucson; sister, Sharon Waterhouse (Ron) of Weaverville, CA; brother, Robert Ulrich (Peggy) of Reno, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
