Almira Lou Crosbie Carl

The fourth of five children, she was born at home in Springfield, Ohio on January 17, 1928. Born premature and weighing just over three pounds, she was kept warm in a box placed near a stove. She survived and grew to be a very outgoing and generous person.

Lou’s family had experienced tough times after her father’s illness which created a strong bond with her mother and sisters. Lou was an active member of the community and volunteered for multiple organizations. She was a founding member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sandston – now in Mechanicsville, a member of American Legion Post 144 Auxiliary, and a couple of neighborhood organizations.

Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, George; her parents, Kingsley and Sylvia Crosbie; her brother, Harold; three sisters, Marguerite Thompson, Jenny Smith, and Jean Hoy, all of Springfield, Ohio.

She is survived by two sons, Mark A. (Beth) and Kevin L. (Janet); four grandchildren, Kirsten Bishop (Brad), William Carl (Jessie), Katie McNeece (Dustin), Lindsey Carl; six great-grandchildren, Collin and Paityn McNeece, Bryleigh, Kamden, Myra, and Slayton Bishop; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The immediate family extends special thanks to family and many friends for their visits, prayers, cards, phone calls, and flowers during her illness. In an effort to keep family and friends safe, the funeral service will be private.
