BOWERY Jr., Bernard Lee, 88, of Henrico, passed away on February 11th, 2017. He worked as a carpenter with VDOT and served his country honorably as a Navy Seabee for 27 years. Bernard was also a member of the VFW. He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard L. Bowery, Sr. and Minnie Grubbs Bowery; wife, Sarah Hughes Bowery; brothers, William Leroy and Charles Ryland Bowery. Bernard is survived by his sister, Dorothy B. Rose; sister-in-law, Nancy Bowery; children, Sally Bowery Thompson, Linda Bowery, Wanda Bowery, Laura Bowery Quiroz (Teodoro), James W. Bowery, Bernard L. Bowery III (Laurie), Michele and Doug Marshall; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
