 Obituario de Carroll Lamison, Sr.
Carroll Lamison, Sr., was born on October 20, 1945 in Courtland, Virginia to Maylon and Rosa Lamison. The family moved to Rich Square, North Carolina when he was a child. It was there where he would spend most of his formative years. Carroll was educated in the public school system where he attended W.S. Creecy High School and graduated in 1965. After high school Carroll’s desire was to relocate to New York. So one day after working hard for a whole week picking peanuts with his good friend Ernest (Tub) Bryant, Carroll had the $14.80 to get a bus ticket to New York City to go live with his brother, Herman Lamison in Southampton, NY. There he met and later wed his loving wife, Joan Cowell. The two were joined in holy matrimony on July 1, 1967. The union between Carroll and Joan was blessed with two children, Venisee Lamison and Carroll Lamison, Jr. Carroll was known all over the eastern end of Long Island as being a great handyman, a fantastic husband and father, as well as an unmatched conversationalist. If you ran into him and you had a minute to talk, he could talk to you for an hour. His beaming smile and bold personality allowed him to flourish both with his blood family and his church family Carroll joined the Community Baptist Church of Southampton, where he served on the Trustee Board. He was very talented with the gift of a willing spirit to do whatever he was asked to do at the Church. After relocating to Richmond Virginia he worshiped at St. Paul’s Baptist Church. Carroll Lamison, Sr. had many sayings that became a part of his legacy. The saying that he said to most people was that he was “too blessed to be stressed by all this worldly foolishness”. He meant it, to his core. Family and friends were so important to him, and his joy from being around them and talking to them could light up a room. Carroll was predeceased by his parents, Maylon and Rosa, two brothers, Herman Lamison and Maylon Lamison and two sisters, Mary Stewart and Rose Vaughn. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joan Lamison of 54 years, one daughter, Venisee Lamison-Reid (Johnny), one son, Carroll Lamison Jr, one sister Frances Toney (William) three brothers, James Harden (Paulette), Ezzard Charles Lamison (Sharon), Linwood Lambertson, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lamison, a dear Mother-in-law, Bernice Cowell and a host of other family members, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
