

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Elwood Southworth, Sr. and Dorothy Terry Southworth; and his brother, Willie Southworth. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 22 years, Cindy Southworth.
South grew up in Doswell, Virginia and attended college at James Madison University. He dedicated over 30 years of his life managing Pla-Mor Pools in Mechanicsville, Virginia. South was a mentor to his employees and developed close relationships with the owners, Jennifer and Kenny Clements, and staff, who became part of his extended family. Known for his easy going nature and great sense of humor, South touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
South and his wife, Cindy, shared many enjoyable moments together fishing, bowling, and watching UVA basketball games. They frequently spent quality time with friends at Gus’s Italian Cafe and Sports Bar, and South loved traveling to Myrtle Beach with Cindy. They also enjoyed numerous industry-related incentive trips together, including one to Hawaii.
Friends are invited to visit the family on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231, where a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the same location. A private burial will take place later.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his mother, Dot.
