Dave William Meadows, 67, of Varina, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 24, 2018. Dave was born in Asheville, N.C. and moved to Richmond with his parents at a young age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jean Meadows; and his brother, Tim Meadows. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gayle Gillie Meadows; children, Tracy Meadows Walker (Willie) and Jason Meadows (Rebekah); grandchildren, Allison, Luke, Harlie, Logan and Kristina; stepgrandchildren, Madison, Heather and Kaitlyn; his sister, Penny Meadows Jennings (Bob) and family in Winter Springs, Fla.; his beloved family in Asheville; as well as many other family members and friends. Dave was retired from UPS and was a former member of Sheet Metal Local 100. He served in many roles in the Varina Jaycees. When younger, Dave loved being in the outdoors, especially sailing, hunting, fishing and golfing. He loved camping at the river, where he had many friends. While raising his children, Dave was actively involved in coaching T-ball, baseball and softball in the Varina Youth League. He later enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren from the sidelines at their softball and football games. Poppy was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with them. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the VCU Health System Adult Day Services, where Dave enjoyed spending his weekdays and had many friends. Also, to Linda and Johnny, who spent many days at home with Dave. We also want to express our deep gratitude to Tina, Carolyn, Erin, Val, Karen and Jessica with Bon Secours Hospice for their loving care and support. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond Va. 23231.
