Donald Scott "Donnie" McClaning, Sr.

Donald Scott "Donnie" McClaning, Sr., a beloved father, friend, and member of the community passed away on October 14, 2025 at the age of 78. His strength, humor, and enduring love for his family will be remembered always.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Elsie McClaning; and his wife, Mary Ann McClaning.

Donnie was the proud father of four children: his daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Taylor; and his three sons, Scott McClaning, Sean McClaning and Christopher McClaning (Shiloh). Donald also leaves behind his little brother, Cliff (Cindy); and his two grandchildren, Eric and Haley, who gave him great pride.

He cherished his role as father, offering guidance, unerring support, and unconditional love throughout their lives.

Donnie was deeply rooted in his community. Well known for his passion for baseball and his role as a championship level coach, his mentorship left a lasting impression on generations of young kids. Beyond the field, Donnie was a steadfast and loyal friend - the kind of man others could always count on. His integrity, sense of humor, and helpful nature touched many lives.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. We will update Facebook and the obituary on the Nelsen Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
