He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Blanton; parents, Judy and Ed Blanton; father-in-law, Elvin Desper; maternal grandparents, Bennie and Mildred Hanks; paternal grandparents, Alex and Florence Blanton; aunt and uncle, Georgie and Buck Hanks; best friend, Erich Kuhlmey Jr.; and beloved friends, Jo and John Bowles.
Eddie was an entrepreneur and worked as a painter with Custom Colors. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends. He loved to fish, whether it be on the riverbank in Surry, pier fishing at Ocean View, or on the boat in the James or Rappahannock Rivers. If he was fishing, he was his happiest. Eddie loved anything Ford or John Deere. He also loved anything fast – cars, bikes, boats, and four wheelers. Eddie also enjoyed hunting and going camping on the Rappahannock River with his family. When at home, he loved to work in his garden and tend to his farm, Heathers Landing.
Lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Cindy Blanton; daughter, Emily Blanton (Aaron Blowers); sister, Lora Blanton; brother, Rusty Blanton; bonus sons, Erich Kuhlmey III, Chris Frohman (Stacy Ribblett); bonus grandson, Bradley Frohman; nieces and nephews, Kyle, Grace, Kaitlin, Linzee, Jake, Sadie, and Stella; several aunts and uncles; mother-in-law, Doris Desper; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Eddie’s wish was to not dress up, come as you are, or you can join the family and wear Carhartt.
In lieu of cut flowers, send living plants or flowers that can be cherished in Eddie's honor at Heathers Landing.
