Eileen Sullivan Williams

Eileen Sullivan Williams, 59, beloved wife, mother, sister, teacher and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Varina on Tue. April 4, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Brent, their son, Brendan, 2 sisters, Bernice Cavalluzzi (Marty) and Ruth Bedore (Joby), and 5 brothers, Greg Sullivan (Emily Beck), Paul Sullivan (Shari), Philip Sullivan (Theresa), Robert Sullivan (Amanda) and Thomas Sullivan (Becky Riebeling). She was preceded in death by her parents. Eileen was always trying to learn new things, which helps explain why she worked through 4 different degree programs, one each at James Madison University, the College of William and Mary, UNC-Chapel Hill and Averett University. Eileen's decade-long fight against cancer didn't stop her from continuing to perform and teach dance, yoga and senior fitness. She committed herself fully to everything she did, from her environmental science career with several state agencies to her scuba diving, gardening and artistic pursuits of sewing, quilting and painting. Eileen especially cared for the members of her classes at the Y, for her dance friends and students, for all of her sewing friends and for the members of Corinth UMC, who were so supportive and loving to her and her family throughout her health ordeal. She never made a friend she didn't keep and she will be remembered by all for her grace and kindness. Her life will be celebrated at Corinth United Methodist Church, 23 W. Williamsburg Rd, Sandston, VA on Monday April 10, 2017. Visitation will begin at 12 noon, with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Corinth UMC Building Fund or to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
