Gilbert, Glenn Walter, 83, of Highland Springs, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Virginia Grubbs Gilbert. He is survived by his son, John Gilbert (Debbie) of Sandston; two grandsons, Chris Gilbert (Meghan) of Prosper TX, and Kevin Gilbert (Jamie) of Sandston; 6 great-grandchildren, Paige, Jonny, and Kylar of Prosper TX, and Nadiea, Nevaeh and Karla of Sandston; brother, Lyle Gilbert (Kathy) of Rochester Hills MI, and a host of other family and friends. He was retired from the US Navy after twenty two years of service. He worked for the City of Richmond for ten years and Henrico County for fifteen. He was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church, and was a Master Mason at the Thomas N. Davis Lodge number 351 in Richmond. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2pm at Pioneer Baptist Church, 3140 Darbytown Road, Henrico; interment will be in the church cemetery with reception to follow.
