Harvey Caldwell, Jr., brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend went home to be with the Lord and with his wife Julie; early on the morning of March 25, 2025. Those he will meet in heaven are his five sisters, Esther, Erma, Polly, Joan, and Marilyn Caldwell, his mother Ruth Recob Caldwell, who died when he was only two years old: step-mother Murdel Caldwell and father Harvey Caldwell.
Harvey is survived by his three children Chris Caldwell/(Carolyn Caldwell), Dan Caldwell/(Betty Hundley), and Joy Felts/(Michael Felts); his grandchildren, Kory Caldwell/(Sarah Hykes), Christopher Felts, and Ashley Felts/(Nick Weaver) and great grandchild, Nevaeh Caldwell.
Harvey was born and grew up in Chillicothe, OH. After marrying Julie on May 3, 1959 and having Chris and Dan, his job working for the FAA moved them to Cape Charles, VA, a very small town on the eastern shore. It is here that they had Joy and resided until 1979 when Harvey’s work once again moved them to New Kent, VA, where they remained. Towards the end, Harvey battled several years of dementia before passing.
Harvey loved Julie the most, his whole world. He loved sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. His other favorite teams were Ohio State football and University of Virginia basketball. He read the paper everyday until he could not anymore. He loved animals; mostly dogs, but he enjoyed bird watching and feeding the squirrels out of his hand, as well. God protected Harvey’s soul from grieving over Julie’s death on April 17, 2024 due to dementia fogging his memory, but also lost all of his family memories from then on.
