Helen Slaughter Green

GREEN Helen Slaughter, 95, of Highland Springs passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Born to the late William James and Carrie Davis Slaughter, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murle L. Green; brothers, Roy and Bill Slaughter; sister, Alice England; and nephew, Calvin “Billy” Slaughter. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Small Business Administration after 37 years of service. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church and was a long time member of the Bowling Association. Helen loved all animals especially miniature dachshunds. She and Murle enjoyed going to the river, traveling, working in their yard and their dogs. Left to cherish her memory are her nephew, Roy “Sonny” Slaughter, Jr.; niece, Patricia Slaughter Harmon (Jim); many great-nieces and nephews, three especially close, Tracey, Gregg and Mandy Harmon; many special friends including, Gwenn Townsend, Tee Franconi and Virginia Toney; and her faithful caregiver, Sherry Hicks. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where services will be held Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
