Iris Parkhurst

Iris I. Parkhurst, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at her home in Highland Springs, Va., on November 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Parkhurst; and son, William Parkhurst. Iris is survived by her children, Caroline Curtis (Larry Pollard), Christopher Parkhurst Sr. (Lisa), Doris Parkhurst and Doug Parkhurst (Martha). She was blessed to have 16 grandchildren, to include Holly Scholl, Carrie Floyd, Summer Bain, Lindsay Jett (Robert), Christopher Parkhurst Jr.; as well as at least five great-grandchildren, Joshua Scholl, Jade Floyd, Rome Floyd, Cynyonna Bain, Bridgette Jett; and many others who adopted her and called her Grandma. Iris loved her family and enjoyed spending time with those that were close to her. Over the years, she had several hobbies that brought her joy and friendships from all over the country. She excelled at creating ceramic art, she loved to play games with family and friends and in later years she played many games on social media, spreading her friendship and humor around the world. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 29, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, Va. 23150. Please dress warm and comfortably.
