

He retired from Sears with 30 plus years as a service technician. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post # 233, Varina. He loved his family, his westerns, his cowboy boots and hats and going to the pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Mary Barlow Dickinson; brother, George Edwin Dickinson; sister, Diane D. Smethers; and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Douglas.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Dickinson; children, Nancy Moore, Jeni Douglas, Kristie Dickinson, James Dickinson III, Tommy Dickinson (Brooke), Angie Dickinson and Adam Dickinson (Angie K.); step-children, Joel, John, Jason, Collins and Sara; grandchildren; Jessica, Tyler, Hannah, Lauren, Hailie, Jacob, Emily, Ethan, Addison, Kylee, Aiden and Jax; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Wyatt, Connor, Ren, Louis and Jane; sister, Mary F. Lewis; brother, William “Billy” Dickinson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 9, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m.
A graveside service will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
