James Michael Jones Jr.

Mike was Born on September 2, 1985, and lived in Mechanicsville, formally from Charles City. Mike devoted his life to his family whom he was rarely seen without and the love between them was infectious always cherishing every moment together. He cherished every moment spent with those closest to him, always offering support and encouragement. Beyond family, Mike had a deep passion for Team Slabs, a pursuit that brought him great joy and camaraderie. Known for his infectious sense of humor and generous spirit, he was always there to bring laughter or lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Christy L. Jones; his sons, Christian D. Cook and Devon M. Jones; his grandmother, Momma Almeade Jones; mother-in-law, Deborah Mulligan; sister, Tera Hampton; brother, Greg Mealy; sister, Michele (Alton) Jones; brother-in-law, John S. Cook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen V. Hampton; father, James Michael Jones; father-in-law, John C. Cook; grandparents, Augustas and Thelma Hampton and James N. Jones; uncle, Gus Hampton; and uncle, Daryell L. Jones.

James’s presence brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m.
