John Frank Green

Green, John Frank, of Henrico, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016 at the age of 89. He was surrounded at home by the love and comfort of his family. John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Lee; son, Thomas Balacke (Jean); granddaughter Montine Balacke Norman (Andrew) and their three children. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Sears (Cecil), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. John served in the U.S. Army for three years and retired from the American Tobacco Company after 38 years. He was a first lieutenant of the No. #6 volunteer fire department. John had a great love for his three beagles, hunting and the outdoors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. Services will be held on Monday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Washington Memorial Cemetery.
