Keeton, Kenneth Warren, 88, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He is survived by two sons from his marriage to Betty Bolton; Barney and Jeff; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his loving significant other of 44 years, Julie Brown and her three children. He was preceded in death by his parents; Dewey Charles Keeton Sr and Elizabeth Sordelet Keeton, and his siblings; Mary Maher, Katherine Hicks, Janet Alston and Dewey Keeton II. Kenny was a graduate of Varina High School. He and his brother Dewey were avid bicyclists and actively involved with the beginnings of the Richmond Area Bicycle Association. In the early 1950’s he taught himself to play the guitar and became part of a band featured several times on WRVA Radio’s local talent spotlight show. Kenny played music professionally in central Virginia well into the 21st century adding Bass and Keyboard to his repertoire. Kenny’s career began when he entered the IBEW (Local 666) electrical apprenticeship program where he was the first honored Outstanding Apprentice in 1959. He spent his working years building industrial control systems at C&W Controls becoming a respected craftsman by many of the area’s top companies. Throughout his entire life, Kenny was fascinated by airplanes. He acquired his pilot’s license in the early 1960’s and combined several of his passions, photography, bicycling and flying, into family activities. The fascination and passion led him to the VA Air National Guard where he befriended many and was named the Honorary Historian. His dedication to documenting the Guard’s fleet of aircraft is applauded by many former Guardsman. Kenny’s life was blessed by many friendships made through his wide variety of activities. His presence will be missed. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18th between 6pm and 8pm, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. Services will be held in the chapel at 10am on Friday 19th, followed by interment at Washington Memorial Park, in Sandston.
