Lawrence E. Johnson Sr.

Lawrence Edward Johnson Sr., 87, made his journey home to our Lord and on February 8, 2014. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Nanny Bowry Johnson and Joseph P. Johnson. Lawrence served his country in WWII as a Radar in the NAVY, and retired proudly. Once he returned home he worked for Ford Motor Company as a Mechanic. Lawrence was a true water lover and spent a lot of time fishing, hunting and gardening. But most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Charlotte Johnson. Five children, Lawrence E. Johnson Jr. (Lonnie), Steven L. Johnson Sr., Celeste J. Travis, Cheryl J. Hendrix and Melody J. Paxton; Eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Santa Maria, Annette Shovar, Steven Johnson Jr., Crystal Williams, Lisa Johnson, Eric Travis and Kaitlin Foster; seven great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends, family and honorary children. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6-8 pm, and funeral services on Thursday, February 13, 2013 at 11am. All services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home and Crematory. 4560 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond VA 23231. Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest at Washington Memorial Park.
