Luther Bryant Jones Jr. "Junior"

JONES, Luther Bryant Jr. ” Junior”, 80, of Henrico, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Junior is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Garris Jones and Luther Bryant Jones Sr.; brothers, Russell, Buddy, Marvin, and Franklin Jones; sisters, Dottie Bell Ezzell, and Elizabeth Tippett. He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, M. Constance Jones “Conni”; daughters, Cynthia Marie Gibbs and favorite son in law, Michael, and Suzanne Melinda Jones; son, J. Edward Kirkley III and wife, Soyoung; sisters, Nellie Hudgins, of Enfield, NC, Gertrude Light, of Littleton, NC, and Eunice Finch, of Petersburg, VA; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Sarah and Abbie. Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from Gundlach Plumbing and Heating, where he was the Vice President and Co-Owner. Junior was a Journeyman Plumber, who was well respected in the city of Richmond, and was a mentor for several of today’s Richmond plumbers. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Nags Head, photography, and spending time with his family. Junior built beautiful bird houses and windchimes in his beloved garage where all were welcome to share a Pepsi and swap a few lies. The family will receive friends on Friday June 6, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231; where a memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2 pm. Interment is private.
