O’Brien, Mark E., 60, of Henrico, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 3, 2016, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Mark is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joyce; children, Katie Maclauchlan (Brian), and Kevin O’Brien; faithful friend, Dood; mother-in-law, Katie Lowry; sisters-in-law, Donna Downey (John), and Bonnie Baughan; and multiple nieces and nephews. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Midway and was a letter carrier with the U.S.P.S. for 34 years. The family would like to thank the Bone Marrow Clinic of VCU and the nurses of the 10th floor for their wonderful care. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, with an American Legion service at 7:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Nelsen Funeral Home.
