
Enroughty, Mary Emma Thompson, 94, of Varina, passed away July 15, 2014. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Lewis Wellington “Duke” Enroughty and grandson, Matthew Lewis Browning. Mary Emma was a graduate of Longwood College and VCU. She was retired from teaching school for Henrico County. She is survived by four daughters, Judith Cook, Carol Browning (Robert), Linda Urquhart (Grant), and Mary Duke Coughlin (Pat); 7 grandchildren, Charles D. Cook, Robert M. Browning, Jr., Jennifer Lynn Richmond, Justin Mark Browning, Stephanie Lee Urquhart, Catherine Paige Cash, and Patrick Shannon Coughlin; 13 great-grandchildren, Robert M. Browning II, Anja Michelle Browning, Cathryn L. Browning, Cynthia H. Browning, Matthew Peter Browning, Afton Vinae Richmond, Matthew Jordan Richmond, Ethan Cash, Connor Cash, Madison Cash, Sophie Cash, Bryce Coughlin and Stephen Coughlin; great-great-granddaughter, Lina Marie Ladd. Mary Emma was a faithful member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church where she served as deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, WMU leader, and faithful member of a WMU Circle. Mary Emma was also a long time member of Gideon’s International Bible Society. As a true Christian mother, Mary Emma was dedicated to having her daughters in Sunday School and Church where each of them accepted Christ as savior. Mary Emma’s daughters are very blessed to have had a mother who kept a clean, orderly home, put wonderful home cooked meals on the table, sewed dresses every year during their youth to wear to school, and taught them good Christian morals. She was a hardworking, loving mother. Her family honors her memory with thanksgiving and deep love. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, 2950 New Market Road, Henrico, VA 23231. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
