MOORE, Mary Joyce Wermuth, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 25, 2018. Born in Roxbury, Va., Mary Joyce was raised on Long Bridge Dairy Farm in Roxbury, Va. She has joined her beloved husband, Elwin A. Moore, in the heavenly kingdom. She was also predeceased by her parents, William Donald Wermuth and Mamie Campbell Wermuth. She is survived by her two children, Lawrence Donald Moore (Connie) and Sandra Moore Welch of Sandston, Va.; four grandchildren, Tray Welch (Gina), Deanna Moore, Damon Moore (Dawn) and Samantha Kerr (Ian); eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Joyce and Elwin met at McGuire Veterans Hospital and were married for 71 years. She was a wonderful mother and a true friend to everyone. She was a great card sender and always remembered everyone's birthday. She embraced everyone of Dad's family as if they were her siblings. We want to thank Anna Pitts and her wonderful staff at Covenant Columns Manor for the love and care they gave her and also Heartland Hospice, for keeping her comfortable during her last weeks. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, June 28, from 11 to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Va. The service, also at Nelsen, will be held at noon on June 28, followed by the interment in Washington Memorial Cemetery. A reception at Corinth United Methodist Church in Sandston, Va., will follow the interment. Donations may be made to the Chapman Scholarship Fund, Corinth UMW, any animal rescue organization, or a charity of your choice.
