She was a retired machine operator with Philip Morris and a member of Hardy Central Baptist Church. More than anything, Mary enjoyed helping her family and friends however she could. She liked to cook, work puzzles, and tend to her yard. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughter after school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lee, Eugene, and Thad Hammond and is survived by her daughter, Michelle Gregory (Steve); granddaughter, Becky McKinney (Daniel); and great-granddaughter, Laura McKinney all of Richmond; and a sister, Sylvia Pieper of Lumberton, NC; and nieces, nephews and many other special friends.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 22, at 3 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, VA 23150.
Mary’s family greatly appreciates the exemplary doctors and nurses at Memorial Regional Medical Center who tended to her needs during the past week. We also appreciate the love and prayers from all of our family and friends.
