Thelma Barnett Alexander, 98, of Sandston, passed away July 27, 2014. Thelma was a member of Sandston Baptist Church and was a member of numerous clubs, including the American Legion Auxiliary, Sandston Founders Club, and Red Hat Society. She will be greatly missed for her wit, wisdom, and ever present smile. Thelma was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Tunstall, and survived by daughter, Sandra Alexander Smith; son, Garnett Tunstall Alexander, Jr.; son, Stanley Leroy Alexander; grandchildren, Daniel Alexander, Christopher Alexander, Katherine Marrone (David), Jennifer Tessendorf (David), Kristin Smith, Lee Smith; and great grandchildren, Tripp, Louis and Cameron. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandston Baptist Church, 100 W. Williamsburg Road, Sandston, VA 23150. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
