

CURTIS, Wade Hampton, 91, of Quinton, Va., passed away on March 22, 2015. Wade was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Helen Harding Curtis; his parents, Josephine and Robert Curtis Jr.; his brothers, Raleigh and Robert Curtis III; and his sisters, Phyllis Kniphfer and Audrey Cross. He is survived by his sister, Joanne Powell; nieces and nephews, Vickie Kniphfer, Suzanne Johnson, Robert Curtis IV, Ronald Curtis, Richard Powell, Charles Powell Jr., Michael Powell, Brenda White, Ted Andre, Jimmy Andre, Susan Eudailey, Debbie Kerver and Tamela Stevens; along with his devoted sister-in-law, Carol Harding and "Uncle" Jim Worley. Wade was a long-time member of Landmark Baptist Church. He was the owner of R.T. Sunday Company, a blue printing business, until his retirement. He had worked there since going to work as a delivery boy in his teens. Wade was a hard worker who took pride in all he did, especially building his home "at the rivah" on the North River in Mathews, Va. He was especially proud of his service in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 185th infantry. He will be missed by all who knew him for his kind and generous nature. The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. on Wednesday, March 25 from 5 to 8 p.m., where services will be held Thursday, March 26, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
