

Wallace Kendall Toy, 95, of Varina, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 23, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart of 75 years, Violet Mae Toy, as well as his parents, Delton R. Toy & Doris M. Jones Toy.
Wallace was born in Chesterfield, VA on October 26, 1930 and lived in the Richmond area all his life. He married his sweetheart, Violet, in 1948 sharing a deep covenant love and faithfulness through hardships, joyous occasions, and beautiful life adventures until her death in September 2024.
He was a member of Stockton Memorial Baptist Church for more than 75 years. In 2025, Wallace was blessed to join in fellowship with Varina Baptist Church where he was received with loving and open arms.
He was a baker working at the A&P Bakery in Richmond until it closed in 1975 and then at Nabisco in Richmond until his retirement in 1992.
Wallace was an avid car enthusiast, collecting and restoring antique cars. He enjoyed attending car shows and other car related events through the years, as well as going to local Cruise-ins to show off his beautifully restored cars and talking with fellow car enthusiasts.
For over 20 years, he and Violet enjoyed RV life travelling to Florida for the winter as well as traveling cross country to see our beautiful country. They loved their RV life together and the friends they met along the way.
Wallace loved his family and was actively involved in his children’s lives whether it was building and riding go carts, boating, water skiing, fishing, horseback riding, roller skating, attending motorcycle races, baseball games, horse shows, taking fun trips, cookouts, or just spending time together.
He was the ageless wonder. He was kind, hardworking, supportive, fun loving, adventurous, loving, humble, and a wonderful husband, Daddy, and Grandpa. He leaves an example and a legacy of a life well lived.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Wayne K. Toy (Cheryle) of Chesterfield, Patricia T. McCormick (Thomas) of Williamsburg and C. Kevin Toy (Margaret) of Richmond; and his sister, Doris Ann Toy of Williamsburg. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Randall S. Toy of Richmond, Lesley A. Houtz (Ted) of Wilmington, NC and Perrin W. Stokes of Richmond; and great-granddaughters, Britney Houtz and Samantha Houtz of Wilmington, NC.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home located at 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 6 at 12 p.m. in Bermuda Memorial Park located at 1901 Bermuda Hundred Rd., Chester, VA.
There will be a reception immediately following the graveside service at Varina Baptist Church, 8090 Varina Road, Richmond, VA.
