

He was a retired carpenter with Kemmer Cabinets Company and was a member of Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church and Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind where he was an All-American football player. He enjoyed his yardwork, watching football, and his cabinetry work. His cabinetry work was once featured in a magazine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Edna Nester; siblings, Jimmie, Sylvia, Goldie and Benton; grandson, Anthony Nester; and granddaughter, Brittni Jennings.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Tolley Nester; children, Greg Nester (Delores) and Kathy Nester (Sharonne); grandchildren, Sherrell, Jordan, Bria, Treshawn and Bryce; great-grandchildren, Aurielle, Aurianna, Isaiah, Aubri, Jhalo and Hayden; sister-in-law, Doris Wampler (John); and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and dedicated neighbors, Karen and Don Wade.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 7, at 1 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, VA 23150.
