

Adam S. Troscinski, 89, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away April 18, 2015 of respiratory arrest after a tenacious battle back from a January 31 stroke and pneumonia.
Adam is survived by daughter Margaret and son-in-law Daniel Pehrson of Rochester Hills; son John and daughter-in-law Susan Troscinski of Houston, Texas; son Michael Troscinski of Rochester Hills; son James and daughter-in-law Renee Troscinski of Grosse Pointe Park; son Robert Troscinski of Valencia, California; and grandchildren Nathan, Neal, Maria and Adam Troscinski. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Florence Troscinski, parents Jan (John) and Michalina Troscinski, and sister Virginia Troscinski.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Adam graduated from Our Lady Queen of Angels Grade School where he was an alter boy and from Chadsey High School where he was in the ROTC. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1944-1946 in the Pacific Theater. He fought in the Battle of Saipan and was stationed there during the bombing of Hiroshima. He was awarded badges for marksmanship as a Sharp Shooter with Pistol and Carbine. He served again in the Army Reserves during the Korean Conflict.
He attended the University of Wisconsin on the GI Bill and earned a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering from the Detroit Institute of Technology. He was a member and Treasurer of the Alpha Gamma Upsilon fraternity Gamma Chapter.
Adam enjoyed a long career with Fisher Body, BOC and Cadillac Motor Car Divisions of General Motors Corporation, retiring as a Sr. Mfg. Project Engineer in September 1991 after 42 years. Last year, he reunited with many of his former GM colleagues at The Production Engineering Retirees Club reunion in Naples, Florida. After retirement from General Motors, he worked at the Great Oaks Country Club in Rochester Hills for 10 years.
He was an avid golfer who began as a caddie at Warren Valley Golf Course and lettered on the golf team in college. He was a 50-year member of the Fisher Body Golf League. During his years of play, he achieved two Holes-In-One. He also was an accomplished bowler and a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Adam loved life. He enjoyed people, a good time and always had an interesting story to tell. He was a kind hearted and generous man. He loved his family, his home, the outdoors and a good home cooked meal.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Council of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW Bruce Post 1146 and the Rochester-North Oakland Elks Lodge #2225. His favorite charities were the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion, the Wounded Warrior Project and National Olympic Committee.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 23 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester. A memorial service will held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24 at Pixley.
Following cremation, he will be interred at the Great Lakes National Military Cemetery in Holly at a later date.
