“The members of our French conversation group have all become such good friends,” Bonnie said to me the last time I spoke with her.  The group met every Monday to talk about everything and nothing and our conversations did range from the ridiculous to the sublime.  The rule being that any topic was fair game as long as the discussion was en francais. Bonnie, with great perseverance, grace and good humor, kept us from straying too far for factual and grammatical correctness.  Tuesday morning we often received an e-mail from her informing us of  the word none of us  could recall, the accurate grammatical construction however arcane, the tile of that book or name of that obscure author.
More than anything else, Bonnie loved every one of us, and in myriad ways let us know it.  For example, when I was quite sore after surgery for dental implants, Bonnie insisted on checking in on me after school. When asked if I needed anything,  I confessed to a craving  for coffee ice cream, but sensibly I  added: “It's such an indulgence.  Don't get me that utterly delicious high caloric Dagen-Haas. The ordinary kind will do very well”  A half hour later, Bonnie arrived bearing the ordinary coffee ice cream and the extraordinary Hagen-Haas.  “When you are feeling lousy, “she declared, “you owe yourself an indulgence,” and she absolutely refused to let me pay for either of the ice creams. When you were Bonnie's friend, she knew what you needed and saw to it that you got it.
I will miss her forever.

Bonnie was a wonderful, caring and loving friend. I can only add at this time that I think of her and miss her daily.

Whenever I visited the Media Center at Baker, Mrs. Britton was always kind to me and would help me with a friendly smile.   She will be missed.

Working with Bonnie was a special pleasure at Larson Middle School.  Bonnie was always at the helm of the information center of the school with a pleasant smile and lots of patience; eager and efficient in providing help. Even after leaving Larson, on occasion I would contact her for assistance. The world is a better place because of her. I send my thoughts, prayers and strength to your family as you move through this sad and challenging time of loss.

Bonnie was a great person who was caring and very helpful to the staff at Larson Middle School.  She will be greatly missed.

Colleen and Patrick - I was at the visitation today. Although I didn't get a chance to speak with either of you, I did view all the wonderful photos of your mother. All the comments written here about your mom are more than accurate. She was a wonderful lady. However, I wanted to tell you that after looking at those pictures, your mother could have been a beautiful French model! She was beautiful inside and out.

Bonnie was a wonderful person, teacher, leader, supporter, mentor and friend. She was always willing to lend a hand or a word of encouragement. The entire Troy School District is feeling the loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this extremely difficult time.

Our deep condolences to Ms Britton's family. She was a wonderful media specialist at Baker and will be missed deeply.

I am Bonnie's oldest female cousin on her father's side.  She was delightful as a child and I knew that she would succeed in whatever she did as an adult.  My sympathy to her family as you have lost a dear mother, sister, and friend.  Jean Temple Walker

Bonnie was the person who always thought of everyone else.  She was the one who remembered everybody's birthday.  She was the one who brought her homemade, spectacularly delicious pastries.  She was the one who encouraged everyone else to attend the French meetings by sending emails that cleverly said, "I hope that I will not be the only one coming tonight!"  She was the one who always brought that endearing smile, that penetrating intelligence, that impeccable knowledge of the French language and that ability to make you feel as if everything you said was important, at least important to her.  What she may not have known was how infinitely important she was to us.  When Don's "five and three quarters year old" son found out that Bonnie would not be coming to any more meetings he said, "Now who is going to make paper airplanes for me?"  I guess that we are all asking the same question.

I knew Bonnie through the French group.  One of the highlights of any meeting of this group was Bonnie's gracious, lovely presence.  The world could use more Bonnie Brittons.  Many of us will treasure her memory.

I had the fortuitous opportunity to meet Bonnie just this past year at a French gathering. She was a very kind, interesting, intelligent and sensitive person who was a delight to encounter. I am deeply touched by her passing and the loss to her family, friends and humanity.  I truly appreciate having had the experience of knowing Bonnie.   Her beautiful spirit will endure.

Bonnie will be missed so deeply and completely by all of us in the Soiree Litteraire (our French book club). Her wonderful sense of humor and her insights added so much to the group...not to mention the friendship and support she offered each of us.

I believe Bonnie promoted the love of books and reading far more than we will ever realize.  Thousands of students and teachers fell under her spell to read. The world is a better place because of Bonnie and now a sadder place without her. This doesn't feel possible or right. She was loved.

Bonnie was a close college friend of mine. I want Patrick and Colleen to know that she was a talented flute player, intelligent, fun, and taught me a lot about surviving the bad times...a beautiful soul inside and out. Be open to her presence. May your wonderful memories and her love sustain you.

Bonnie was a wonderful individual who always had time, energy, and talent for the students, teachers, parents, and staff with whom she worked with daily at Larson. So many programs, ideas, clubs, classes, book fairs were solely her creations and she made them happen. She was always caring, helpful, and a true friend and I enjoyed my many years working with her.

What a wonderful wonderful teacher and friend...Larson was my first job in the district and the place I always call "home". Bonnie was one of those who made me feel at home...feeling sadness for all...

My sincerest and deepest sympathies on the loss of her. I am so sorry - there just are not words that are adequate.  Bonnie was a very precious and caring woman and teacher.  The time, care, and love she demonstrated while working with my developmentally delayed students was just amazing!  She will be missed greatly...

I can not imagine LMS without Bonnie.  Whatever was needed, she was the "go to" person.  She provided a listening ear for those in need, worked diligent on many committees, and provided a warm learning environment for students in the media center. She was one of the strongest and most  determined women I've ever known.  I will miss her.  Sandy Maclean, Rochester, Mi.

Bonnie was an amazingly strong woman who knew what she wanted and went about things quietly and efficiently.  She made the media center at Larson a warm , friendly place to be. She will be greatly missed.
