November 21, 2022 in her sleep while at her apartment. Carolyn was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 24,1938. She gave Nursing School a try after graduating from Troy High School, and in her later years after raising her kids, she often worked in clerical positions as a secretary for various small companies around the Oakland County area. Her favorite job over the years was working with children as a Paraprofessional for the Rochester Community Schools as a substitute. Carolyn married David Rickabus back in 1959 and they started a family while living in Berkley, Ml. Then later lived with her parents Russell and Ann Epler for a year in Troy while their new home was being built in Rochester Hills. Carolyn enjoyed being a Stay-at-Home Mom for many years as their children, Gail, Ted, and Jeff kept her busy running to their various activities in scouts, dance, sports, drill team, band, theater, and more. She was not only creative with the special birthday parties she threw for her kids over the years, but she also enjoyed making them fun costumes for Halloween or sent them outside in the summertime with a picnic lunch in a paper bag and a jar of milk along with their friends. She always loved cooking and baking too for her family and others. But then, she also was creative with her love of oil painting and sewing (pillows, quilts, etc.). Carolyn loved the holidays and birthdays, but was most happy when she was creating her oil paintings, playing her piano, or traveling with her family to many states out west and out east to see famous landmarks.
She is survived by her children Gail (Doug) Peters, Ted (Kelly) Rickabus, and Jeff Rickabus; grandchildren Adam (Beth Taramoto) Rickabus and great granddaughter Miya, Daniel (Alex Smith) Rickabus, Nick Peters, Megan (Matt) Freeman, and her family's beloved dog, Corky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ann Epler and her brother Loren Epler.
