He is survived by his children Lynne Green and Barry (Kelli) Johnston; grandchildren Aaron and Sarah Green, Lindsey and Jenna Johnston, and Olivia Farnum. Chad was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Wilson) of 63 years and parents William and Iva (Pearl) Johnston.
Chad was born in Toronto, Ontario on February 14, 1928. He graduated Architecture from Northern Vocational School in 1947. He married Barbara Wilson on October 3, 1953 in the Presbyterian Church in Newmarket, Ontario. Chad moved his family to Roseville, Michigan, then Shelby Township Michigan in order to work as a SR. Designer for General Motors. Chad retried from the automotive industry in 1991 after 32 years of service. Chad and Barbara lived in Shelby Twp. for 46 years prior to moving to All Seasons, an Independent facility in Rochester Hills.
Chad loved to play sports of all kinds.; softball, basketball, bowling, sculling and as a true Canadian, played hockey all his life, into his 70’s. He enjoyed gardening, biking, golf and walked every day. Chad, always a true gentlemen and a man sincerely interested in others, touched the lives of many people over the course of his 90 years. Chad will be sorely missed by his family, children, grandchildren and friends.
Chad's family will receive all for a visitation on Friday April 27, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 3 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan. Interment will be Saturday April 28, 2018 at 10am at the chapel at Christian Memorial Gardens West located at 521 E Hamlin Road in Rochester Hills.
