We are so sad to learn of Ernie's passing. His financial support of our baseball team will never be forgotten. To say our players were well equipped would be an understatement. He attended all the games and was very proud of young Ernie. His infectious humor, generosity and love for his family was always present. Deepest sympathy to Georgeann, Ernie, Amy, Michelle and his grandchildren.

I had the chance to know Ernie the last few years of his life thru my husband Dan. They had many breakfasts and lunches together and sometimes I was allowed to join them.  I got to know him as a very good and caring man and he taught me many things about Native Americans that I did not know.  Having  a small amount of Cherokee blood, I  found his stories very interesting.  He will be missed but not forgotten.  Peace to his family.

 I worked for SPP  in the 1990's , there was never a day, Ernie did not make his way back to the QC office.  Every morning he would come for coffee and a chat, the chats were mostly always about what  his son was  doing,  golf, baseball and whatever it was  Little Ernie was doing.  Big  Ernie just beamed his great smile the entire conversation.  Ernie was extremely proud of his son, young Ernie. 

 We have lost one of the most generous men I have ever known.  Rest in Peace "Big Ernie".

I was privalaged to know and be a part of Ernest I. Young's life. He was a caring, loving man who always had a big smile with a bigger heart. Growing up I have so many great memories of him opening his home and his generosity to myself and all the neighborhood kids. Mr. Young (the real big Erns) was a funny, successful, generous and kind Man. He will always be remembered as a GREAT... Father, Grandfather and  Friend. My heart goes out to his family.  Please remember, Mr. Young is in a better place and celebrate his life just as he did. ecspecially when he always made a putt to beat Ernie Jr.

I am so very saddened over the loss of Ernie. He will be missed by many but he will never be forgotten. His life was filled with God and love, especially for his family. I spent most of the last year with Ernie and he expressed his deep devotion and love for Ernie, Amy and Lilah Kaye every day.   It didn't matter where we were Ernie had to tell everyone just how proud he was of his family.  His deep devotion, pride and love of family is what helped him beat the many odds he faced over the past year. He loved his church members and Pastor Tom and looked forward to mass each Sunday. His sense of humor was awesome, as he spoke each Sunday and told the parishioners, "Hello everyone, I'm still here!" Ernie was just a one of a kind man that everyone loved. Be proud to have had him for a Dad Ernie because he was the proudest Dad I ever knew. Do not be sad as he is in the most beautiful place ever. He is in the arms of our Lord. Looking over you, Amy and Lilah Kaye. Just as he promised me and sealed it with a kiss. Love you  Mom

My heart goes out to Ernie Sr and his family. I was fortunate enough to have grown up with Ernie Sr and shared many Wonderful memories over the years. What immediately and constantly stands out in my head is that infectious smile on his face at all times. He was such a kind and gentle man who really enjoyed living life. A very selfless man who always wanted the absolute best for his family. I’m extremely blessed to have known him and will never forget his kindness and generosity. Also and a matter of fact, he was so incredibly Proud of his son Ernie jr. Such a loving Dad and I know he cherished his entire family very dearly. It’s very sad that he’s gone but he will never be forgotten. God Bless Ernie Sr and may he Rest In Peace. My thoughts and Prayers are with all of the Family during this very difficult time and Always. Much Love to You All. It was my pleasure to share the last year with Ernie on his Journey back to our Lord and Savior. I would not trade one minute of our time for all the gold in the world. Ernie became my best friend and we shared many thoughts and secrets. He loved his family and especially his little Grand Daughter Lilah Kaye. His love of life and his strong faith in our Lord kept him strong and determined to live life to it's fullest. I will hold my memories close to my heart and never forget the wonderful year I learned what a real true friend is. God Speed my friend. Enjoy God's beautiful Heaven. I’m very saddened to hear about the passing of the man I knew as “Mr. Young.” So sorry for your loss Big Erns, your father was a generous man, smart man, often a man of few words,  who gave us so many cool experiences when we were kids (he and your mother didn’t have to do any of that) RIP Mr. Young Thanks for all the great memories!
