

Harold Dwayne Jennings, 90, died Monday in Amarillo at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Girdner Funeral Home. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, in the chapel of First Baptist Church with Paster Kevin Peters officiating, with burial in Elmwood Memorial Park. Military Honors will be rendered.
Mr. Jennings was born October 6, 1922 in Graford to Samuel Webster Jennings and Viola Tucker Jennings. He attended high school in Mineral Wells, then served in troop F. 124th U.S. Calvary. He also served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He attended USL engineering where he met and married Bernice Breaux in 1944 while stationed in the Navy in Lafayette, LA.
Mr. Jennings worked in sales management at Sears, Wards, and Phornton's. He served as President of the Westgate Lions Club, PTA President, and HSU Cowboy Club.
He taught children's church and adult bible study for many years at University Baptist Church. For people who knew him, his faith in the Lord was great.
He was preceded in death by his parents: a son, Dwayne Webster Jennings, Retired U.S. Army Major; six brothers, Morris, Grady, Lowell, Elton, Sam, and Gerald Jennings; and three sisters, Lucile Baker, Dottie Demple Moore, and Virginia Lowrie.
He is survived by three daughters, Dian Rodriguez of San Antonio, Denise Shelfer of Abilene, Deborah Burns of Canyon; and a daughter-in-law Levirne Jennings; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and also a very beloved friend, Berta Fields.
