Irene Lucas

Irene was the loving mother of Connie Lindsay, Linda Marchese, Harold Lucas, and Mitzi Lucas; caring grandmother of seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; sister of Jimmy (Joann) Dunaway and Bettye Kerher. She was predeceased by her husband Wilmer Lucas and daughter Ruth Jurgenson.

Irene was born the daughter of Chester and Pearl (Drake) Dunaway in Primrose, Kentucky on October 10, 1924. She married Wilmer Ray Lucas on November 19, 1943 in Primrose. She and Wilmer moved to Pontiac for Wilmer’s job but traveled often back to Kentucky to be with extended family as they raised their own family.

Irene loved her family and stayed up on what everyone was doing. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Pistons. Irene also liked to crochet and make quilts to give away.

Irene’s family will welcome all for a visitation on Thursday August 30, 2018 from 4 - 8pm and on Friday from 10:00am until the time of funeral service at 11:00am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan.
