He was born in Cambridge, New York on May 20, 1934. John graduated from Greenwich High School and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell Univeristy. He then went on to receive a M.S. in Automotive Engineering from The Chrysler Institute of Engineering.
He was married to Arline J. Sherwood on June 16, 1956. John had a career in Quality Control for Chrysler Corporation. He was president of Theta Chi Fraternity and a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. John had a passion for golf, woodworking, and gardening.
Survived by his wife Arline; children Stacy Browning of Bloomfield Hills; David (Jessica) Skiff of Rochester; his grandchildren: Sarah (Keith) Leluga, Hayley Browning, Evan Skiff, Jessica Skiff, Megan Emke, Abigail Skiff; his great-grandchildren Declan and Emerson Leluga; and his brother, Stewart Skiff, of Easton, New York.
