

He was born in Dayton, Ohio to William and Earline Lanham Strader. Following high school he pursued a degree in chemical engineering initially at Purdue University and completed at his beloved University of Wisconsin. He also obtained a Master's Degree from the University of Toledo.
Throughout his career, which began in the oil and fiberglass industries, he used his technical skills. The auto supply industry brought him to Detroit in technical sales in 1984.He continued with auto supply sales except for several years with the heavy truck industry in Oregon.
He was a pilot, a sailor, a kayaker, a golfer, a traveler, and a skilled woodworker. He shared many of his adventures with his wife of 57 years, Evelyn and his children, Tina (Christina) and Daniel and his grandchildren. He was always ready for a new adventure.
He was a member of Grosse Pointe Memorial Church and Chi Psi fraternity.
John is survived by Evelyn; children Tina (Tom) Justice, Daniel (Nicole) Strader; four grandchildren; Andrew and Katherine Justice, Thomas and John Strader; brother William (Pam) Strader, a nephew, and Strader and Lanham cousins. He was loved immensely by them all and will be missed beyond measure.
