

Joyce M. Byers, longtime resident of Rochester, April 10, 2015. Joyce was born in Sylvan Lake on Valentines Day in 1933 to William P. and Dorothy E. (Hines) Begg; she soon moved to Birmingham where she grew up and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1951.
After graduating she came to Rochester after her marriage to the late Harry E. "Gene" Byers. Joyce played a vital part in establishing the business known as Byers Wrecker Service, currently owned and operated by her son Bill Byers.
After raising her children she returrned back to school and earned her associates degree from Oakland Community College.
Joyce loved to travel and was able to visit many beautiful and interesting places; she also enjoyed knitting and gardening with roses being her favorite; however, spending time with her family and especially her grandhildren and GG's were her happiest times. She would always win naming songs and save the stuffed animals she won for the great grandkids.
Joyce is survived by her loving children; Marilyn S. (Kenny) Bulloch, Janet G. (Jim) Smith, Jodi G. (Jim Dunn) Byers, William H. (Sharon) Byers and James (Pamela) Downer; sister Dorothy "Susie" (Harry) Fidler; Grandchildren: Shane W. Smith, Phillips W. Smith, Cameron E. (Courtney) Bulloch, Zachery J. Smith, Nicole J. (John) Deavers, Jamie J. (Kion Dailey) Smith, Tiffany J. (Neil) Nightingale, Sommer G. Smith, Shelby L. (Kody) Montgomery, Erik Downer, Mark (Casey) Downer, Ryan (Stacy) Downer, Joseph (Michelle) Downer, Julie (David) Burch & Scott Downer; Great-grandchildren: Kionna Dailey, Tyler J. Dailey, Aya M. Mosley, Jordan M. Byers, Bryce A. Deavers, Mia B. Nightingale, Landon C. Nightingale, Mason Burch, Helena Downer, Joseph Downer, Alia Downer, Brianna Downer, Dominic Downer and joining us any day will be Reese William Deavers; also many nieces & nephews as well as extended family, the Volls and the Lawlers. Also surviving are her longtime friends and nieghbors Ruth (Don) Edwards and Pat (Dick) Langlois. Many, many good memories on North Hill Circle and all her friends within the Rochester Community. We will miss you Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and a true friend. Always in our hearts and minds.
