Joyce was born the daughter of Blythe and Lizzie (Nance) Miley on September 9, 1927, in Petersburg, Indiana. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren Michigan, class of 1945. Joyce was married to Kenneth John Deavey on April 16, 1948. in Warren, Michigan. Joyce worked as a secretary for Sabeston construction company before children, then left the company to be a stay at home mom. Joyce and Ken were member of Faith Lutheran Church in Troy, MI.
Joyce loved her family and enjoyed camping vacations all over the southern states. She loved her grandchildren and cared for everyone and was always there to help. In earlier years, Joyce was a talented artist, once painting an amazing mural of Jesus's sermon on the mount.
Joyce is survived by her children Teresa (Victor) Ticconi, Jan (Charles) Reich, Michelle (Don) Hicks, and Michael (Kim) Deavey; granchiildren Scott (Nichole) Cherry, Reid Deavey, Brittany (Samuel) Luce, Micah Hicks, Joshua Reich, Jeremy Deavey, Sean Deavey, Jacob (Andrew Durkin) Reich, and Hannah Reich; Great-Grandchildren Allison, Lauren, Gavin, and Matthew Cherry, Brayden Bailey, Karson and Maxton Hicks, Eleanor Reich, Nella Deavey, and Greyer Deavey. Joyce was predeceased by her parents and sisters Gertrude Miley and June Maxwell.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday July 8th, 2025, from 4 pm until 7pm and on Wednesday July 9th from 10:30am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in Rochester.
Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
