Leonhard Groth

On the 20th of March 2023, Leonhard (Len) Groth, beloved husband of Ingrid and father of L. Michael (Alissa) and Kristina (Roger), and grandfather (Opa) of Nicholas, William, Alice, Natalie and Cole, passed away. He was 2 days short of his 81st birthday. Leonhard was a graduate of Westdale High School and McMaster University with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering. His specialty was thin film technology. Upon graduation from McMaster in 1966 he and a friend did a grand tour of Europe. While finishing his Masters degree, Leonhard met Ingrid they were married in 1967 and were together for 56 years.

Leonhard and Ingrid spent 20 years in California, where he worked for a number of firms, in hybrid microelectronics and automotive sensors. He received his MBA from Cal State, Fullerton in 1981. He enjoyed travel, photography and technology. In 1993, Leonhard and Ingrid moved to Rochester Hills, Michigan where he worked for several more firms before retiring in 2008.

In retirement he and Ingrid visited Greece, Turkey, Egypt and China as well as spending time with their grandchildren and tending their garden.

Leonhard is survived by his wife Ingrid, his children and grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2023. Interment to be at the Guardian Angel Cemetery in Rochester, Michigan.
