Linda was born the daughter of Roy and Hermine (Mayer) Walter on August 18, 1962, in Tacoma Washington. Linda graduated from Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, class of 1980. She earned her master’s degree in education from Oakland University and taught at several elementary schools throughout the years.
Linda approached life with tenacious creativity. From elaborate craft projects to staying up all night sewing dance recital costumes to inventing new household solutions, she was full of energy and loved to share whatever she was learning with those around her. Linda enjoyed traveling, pickleball, and playing board games with her friends. Most of all, Linda loved being a mother and grandmother. She shone brightest when playing with her grandchildren, who adored her. In earlier days Linda enjoyed camping with her family in northern Michigan. Linda was a member of St. John and Paul Catholic church in Washington where she shared her enthusiasm with the community through singing in the choir.
Linda is survived by her mother Hermine Walter; children Jessica (Jim Klaserner) Capp and Melanie (Patrick) Hanly; grandchildren Luke and Anna Hanly; sister Debra Walter Matson; and nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her father.
A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday September 23, 2025, from 4-8pm at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan.
