Margaret V. Goff Morse, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Rochester, Michigan. Born on November 12, 1935, in Dekalb County, Tennessee, Margaret lived a long and love-filled life defined by devotion to her family and steadfast strength.
Margaret was the beloved wife of Curtis Franklin Morse, sharing 70 beautiful years of marriage — a true testament to enduring love, loyalty, and partnership. Together they built a life centered around family, resilience, and unwavering support. She was a proud and devoted mother to James Curtis Morse (Laura) and Judy Ann Morse. Her greatest joy was her role as “Granny.” She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Sybil Laine Manahan (CJ), Charles Curtis Morse (Amanda), and Joseph Parker Morse. Her legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren: Madison, Maesyn, McKenna, Isla, and Lake — each of whom brought immeasurable pride and happiness to her heart.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Odell Goff, and her beloved siblings Dovie, Ralph, Myrtis, Clay, Nodie, Jewel, Ida, Albert, Joe, Charlie “Chuck,” Ross, and Glen. She also held a special place in her heart for her nephew, Robert “Bob” Goff, who was like one of her own.
Margaret was born and raised on the family farm just outside of Baxter, TN. She moved to Pontiac, MI as a teenager with her family and later met Frank and raised her family. Margaret worked at the GM Truck and Coach Division in Pontiac, Michigan, for 12 years where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. Yet, of all her accomplishments, nothing compared to the pride she felt for her family. Loving her family “hard” wasn’t just something she did — it was who she was.
She found great joy in gathering her family together. She was especially known for cooking for the masses at the annual family reunion, lovingly known as “Decoration,” where no one ever left hungry. Her Sunday family dinners were a standing tradition — the table always full, the food always plentiful, and everyone always welcome. Those meals were more than food; they were her way of loving, connecting, and holding her family close.Margaret also enjoyed traveling, treasure-hunting at yard sales, and playing cards — especially Skip-Bo — where laughter and friendly competition were guaranteed. These simple pleasures created some of the memories her family will cherish forever.
She will be remembered for her fierce devotion, her resilience, and the way she made every member of her family feel deeply loved and protected. Her presence was steady. Her love was unwavering. Her impact is immeasurable.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Serenity Gardens for the excellent and compassionate care given to their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Visitation will be on Thursday February 26, 2026 from 2-4pm with a sharing of memories at 4pm. Interment will be on Monday March 2, 2026 at Goff Cemetery in Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Goff Cemetery Fund (checks payable to Goff Cemetery Association), 7999 Cookeville Boatdock Road, Baxter, TN 38544.
Her life was a blessing. Her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. “Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise; many women have done wonderful things, but you’ve blessed them all!”
