Marty was born in Hamtramck, Michigan to William and Lilly Combs (also deceased). He was known to most in his early years as "Mott" an endearing nickname that continued throughout his life. He attended Hazel Park High School and was employed at Ford Motor Company, later becoming a successful business agent in thoroughbred racing and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was a resident of Rochester Hills, Michigan.
An avid sports fan and golfer he continued in league golf through 2019. Marty was also a skilled gin rummy player, history buff and enthusiastic follower of the stock market. Marty traveled extensively with his wife Brenda and their many adventures included white water rafting in the Grand Canyon as well as visiting many historical landmarks. Marty also took great pride in gardening, he and Brenda spent many hours tending their lawn and garden projects together. Marty was an engaged and loving grandfather who attended countless soccer and baseball games always an enthusiastic "Papa".
One of five children, he is survived by sisters Loretta Hayden and Dian Spencer and was preceded in death by sister Sally Baron and brother Bert Combs. He is survived by daughters Kathy, Susan (Pat), Gail and Laurie.
Marty is also survived by his devoted wife of 41 years Brenda (nee) Turkette and loving children Terrence (Kelly), Wendy (Todd), Monica (Barry), and Thomas (Antoneta). He was a doting grandfather to 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as a considerate in-law and a caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Whether you knew him as Mott or Marty he was an exceptional son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved and was deeply loved by many and will be forever in our hearts.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
