Nelson B. Shafer

He was born to the late Dow and Edith Shafer, February 21, 1927 of McCutchenville, Ohio. Nelson graduated from McCutchenville High School. Nelson married Mary Benner November 23, 1950 and moved to Bucyrus, Ohio where he lived and raised their family. Nelson worked for the Railroad his entire career. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic church. Nelson enjoyed, music, reading, watching the news and playing cards and shuffleboard.

Nelson is survived by daughter Faye Beal (Duane), son-in-law John Goode, son Matthew Shafer (Jane) and son Patrick Shafer. 15 Grandchildren: Colin Beal (Kara), Courtney Deever (Ben), Shannon Beal (Mark), Iris Goode (Mike), Andrea Goode, Elliot Goode (Nicole), Allen Goode (Chun), Andy Shafer (Christine), Jacob Shafer (Elaine), Erica Kettinger (James), Abbey Shrader (Cole), Allen Shafer, Caleena Shafer, Brandon Shafer and Domino Shafer. And 20+ Great-Grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. His beloved wife Mary and three children, Monica Shafer, Roger Shafer and Alison (Shafer) Goode.

A funeral mass will be held at St Patrick of Heatherdown Church, 4201 Heatherdown Blvd., Toledo, Ohio at 10am Saturday September 9th. After Mass lunch will be served from 11:30-12:30 at the First Baptist church, 590 W South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. After lunch family will travel to South Bend Cemetery, 8451-8499 South Twp Road 115, McCuthenville where both Mary and Nelson will be laid to rest.
