

Orville was born the son of Orville Sr. and Laura (Brown) Sergent in South Lyon, Michigan on February 4, 1935. After graduating from Madison High School, Madison Heights, Michigan in 1953, Orville served in the United States Navy Reserve for just over a year before enlisting in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Control Radar Repairman. He proudly served his country for 6 years, including a tour in Germany.
In 1965, Orville moved to Troy, Michigan and raised his family. He worked installing sound systems and volunteered as a Boy Scout pack master at Niles Elementary School dedicating his time and energy to shaping the lives of young scouts.
In 1978, Orville moved to Colorado to work in sales in the garage door industry. He loved the Colorado mountains where he enjoyed jeeping, camping and skiing. Orville became a volunteer ski patrol member at Loveland Ski Area and could be found on the slopes most weekends.
He retired in 1994 and moved to Charlevoix, Michigan. During his retirement years Orville pursued his hobbies of woodworking, watching westerns and football and spending time with his wife.
Orville is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean (Sluyter) Sergent; brother, James (Carol) Sergent; children, Julie (Dennis) Spenceley, Steven (Iryna) Sergent, and David (Tina) Sergent; stepchildren, Richard (Kim) Schlenker, Robert (Michelle) Schlenker and Heidi (Jerry) Vigil along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother Frank Sergent.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 21st Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr. Rochester, MI 48307. Visitation - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Service at 12:00 pm followed by light snacks and refreshments.
