

Peggy Ann Kresge, age 92, of Lake Angelus, Michigan, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 after a brief illness. Peggy was the beloved wife of Bruce A. Kresge for 72 years. She was the only child of Warren and Ruth Sale and was born in Paducah, Kentucky. They moved to Detroit when she was five. She met Bruce when they were 15 years old in their youth group at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Detroit. She attended McKenzie High School and Albion College. Married in 1952, Peggy and Bruce lived in Highland Park for a few years and then lived in Texas and Alabama while Bruce served in the U.S. Army. When they returned to Michigan, they settled in Rochester to raise their family where Peggy created a warm, welcoming and loving home for their family and friends. After Bruce retired from his medical practice, they moved to their Lake Angelus summer home permanently.
Faith and family were always Peggy’s first priorities. Always ready for another adventure, she was very active over the years playing tennis, skiing, golfing, hiking and traveling with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining with style, gardening, reading, antiquing and Bridge. Peggy was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester, The Questers, the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan and P.E.O.
She is survived by her husband Bruce and their five children: Deborah (Paul) McDowell, Katherine (Daniel) Lutey, Susan (Thomas) Drewes, Cynthia (Dennis Furlong) Kresge, and Scott (Barbara) Kresge, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024. Visitation at 10:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Street, Rochester, MI 48307.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Rochester, MI, or to the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan, Rochester, MI.
